BRANSON LANDING VACATIONS AWAIT
NEW CONSTRUCTION CLIMBING TO RECORD LEVELS
July 5, 2005 Belk store and Titanic Exhibition among projects permitted in June
Two Branson Landing buildings have pushed Branson's construction values for
June over the $10 million mark, and for the first half of 2005, new construction neared $60 million.
The city's planning and development department issued permits for the $2.9 million Belk Department
Store and $4.5 million for a five-story parking garage at Branson Landing.
Construction will also begin soon on the Titanic Exhibition at Highway 76 and Gretna Road. The city issued
a construction permit valued at $300,000 for work to begin on the attraction whose exterior will resemble
the Titanic that sank in the North Atlantic in 1912.
New construction in June totaled $10,359,793 and for the first six months of this year, the value of new construction
equals $59.2 million. For the first half of 2004, construction in Branson totaled $43.2 million.
Not since 1993 has the city topped $100 million in annual new construction.
"Projects like Branson Landing and Branson Hills Plaza are leading the way for other new developments in the city,"
said Mike Rankin, Branson's economic development director.
Rankin said plans for the new Target and Home Depot stores in Branson Hills Plaza have been submitted to the city's
planning and development department for review. "You'll see the steel coming out of the ground for those
two stores before the end of the summer," Rankin said.
